Who are we?
We are a locally owned independent store that is located in Downtown Traverse City, Michigan. Holiday Traditions Inc. has been in my family for 12 years. My mother always enjoyed decorating for the holidays. It was a tradition for my mom, sister and I to go Downtown the day after Thanksgiving and pick out our new Dept. 56 village piece to add to our collection.
Years later, after living in Southern California for a very brief time, I decided to attain a degree in fashion design from a college located outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I had a great time putting together different colors, materials (even bubble wrap!) and being able to utilize my creativity and flair. After graduation I moved back to TC with the intention of moving to New York City after the summer but… my mom asked me to help out at the store while she finished up her Master’s Degree. And the icing on the cake was that I met my future husband at a local coffee shop, so…
After my mother finished her degree, I decided to continue the tradition with Holiday Traditions Inc. in downtown Traverse City. With the passion that I have for decorating, (thanks Mom) my unique flare, (thanks Grandma Alberta) and lots of support a new spin on Holiday Traditions Inc emerged. I wanted to continue to carry ornaments and collectibles but I also wanted to carry everyday and seasonal products that are creatively designed and have fantastic quality at affordable prices.
